... that WASN'T supposed to be funny? For me, it has to be Martin Scorsese's remake of Cape Fear. Oh boy... I embarrassed my girlfriend at the time laughing out loud at that movie. And the funny thing is, I think it's a good movie. But some of those scenes floored me...

Oi~
Don't even get me started on the Cape Fear Re-make. I actually saw the original first, so then hearing Scorsese of all people made a remake I was like "Oh fuck yeah, that's gotta be awesome!"

I mean, I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a bad movie, but it was a bit of a joke. I mean from the sharpie tattoo's, to DeNiro's "southern personality" (how that was anything like Mitchum I will never know), the whole 26 minute long pot scene in the auditorium, and of all people to replace Gregory Peck (The ultimate noble good guy dude) with NICK NOLTE!?!? WHAT?!?!

And what was with the whole supernatural tsunami ending?! Omg I was like curled over crying I was laughing so hard at the end of the remake. I mean the original was just (a very drunk at the time) Mitchum, and Peck having a fist fight in water. Which was epic.

Also in the re-make not only were the scenes almost cartoonish, but alot of them were soooooo long. XD The original was just plain, simple, terrifying, and Epic. And the thing is, I love Scorsese, I'm just thankful he didn't also re-make The Night of the Hunter (Scariest Mitchum ever.)

Hmmm other than that movie let me think... Well there was one movie, that I laughed at because if I wouldn't have it would have disturbed me to no end. Which was Bad Lieutenant (Keitel, not Cage) my brother bought me the Blue Ray for my birthday a while back, not knowing anything about the movie. And It was the first NC-17 movie I ever saw. The movie had like... no redeeming qualities to it. Like it had explicit drug use, sacrilegious moments, nun-rape, a litany of crimes, wanking to under-aged teens, fully nude Keitel, and a really heavy Catholic shame theme going on that made the viewer feel like the evil-doer.

It was pretty much like "Let's see how many drugs Keitel can do in 90 minutes. (safe money is on; "All of them") And when I mean explicit drug use I don't mean Travolta in Pulp Fiction, I mean like I learned a plethora of new ways to smoke/snort/and inject drugs I don't mean like crack pipes, I mean like busting out the tin foil and shit. Keitel's a cop by the way, and while he's off on a bender, and wanking it to underage teens, he's letting nun-rapists get away, and they like show the rape scenes in full detail, and not even that, they splice in scenes of Jesus screaming and bleeding on the cross, like during the rape scenes. And he pops up like the kid in the omen later (at one point I nearly shit myself, he popped out of no-where, it startled me so bad)

Like I feel bad for anyone who went and saw it in the theater, with like a group of people. That must have been a looooooong awkward ride home. If you haven't seen the movie and feel like you must (and trust me, you can go your whole life without seeing it, you're not missing anything) watch it alone, and have a happy-fun activity waiting to do after the movie, your going to need it. XD

So yeah, it's a really fucked up movie, but I had to like laugh at it the first half, but even then it was just tooo fucked-up. It doesn't even end well or positive. (I felt better after watching Casino or Goodfellas, and I'm sure your aware of what happy-go lucky movies those are) I would happily watch Taxi-drive 3 times before sitting down to Bad Lieutenant again. And I have it on Blu Ray XDDDD

[link] This trailer kinda says it all, without saying anything really, They make it sound like some dark-sexy cult classic. It's not. Infact the trailer makes me crack-up to no end, cause I've SEEN the movie. I have to say though, I love Keitel, and he's an amazing actor, and his acting was supurb in the movie, but the character and story where just like "How fucked up can we make this" He makes his character in Copland seem like a saint!

OHHH! Have you even seen Cube?! ([link]) That movies fucking hysterical to watch with friends. It's sapose to be a serious Horror movie, but I showed it to a big group of my freinds and we we're like pissing our selves laughing the whole time.

Now see, I think Keitel's performance in "Bad Lieutenant" is one of the bravest performances I have ever seen by an actor, male or female, ever. There is NO other actor that would do the shit that Keitel does in that movie. None. I have to admit, I love that movie just for it's sheer outlandishness. It is unapologetically dark and I appreciate that. But it is hilarious, I must admit. One of my favorite scenes is near the end when Keitel has this huge bankroll riding on the Mets/Dodgers series in '88 (being a sports fan, I really appreciated the use of a real sporting event) and when Daryl Strawberry strikes out he yells "Fuckin' nigger!!" (I'm black, so don't cringe) and shoots the radio while he's driving. LOL.... That scene killed me. And then he gets shot to death right in front of Madison Square Garden, which I walk by everyday. And no one notices! lol... Love it. Another thing I like about the movie is that Keitel does some of the worst shit you could watch a human being do and gets by. But he dies after he basically does the one right thing he has ever done. Yeah, it's fuckin' nuts but I gotta admit, I love that movie.

You're totally right about "Cape Fear", I'm really glad to know someone who feels the same as I do about that movie. It's just a fuckin' comedy, it HAS to be. I mean, I laughed through that whole movie in the theater. When DeNiro sticks his thumb in Juliette Lewis' mouth, it's supposed to be creepy, I know, but I just laughed. That movie is fuckin' hilarious.

I've never seen all of "Cube". There's some shitty acting in there that doesn't hold me, even with the crazy premise. I'll have to watch it again so I can get a good laugh... lol...

Hahaha totally agree, again the only reason I GOT THROUGH Bad Lieutenant is because it was Keitel, he's amazing. I still can't say that I love that movie though haha. Like, for over the top outlandishness, yeah it pretty much blew itself through the roof. And like I get the cult-ish, trying to be just as bad and outlandish as possible but I guess I just would rather watch movies that I can sit back and enjoy, and again that movies soo "murky" that it makes Casino feel like a "3 hour pick-me-up." I mean I don't hate the movie, but if Keitel wasn't in it, I probably would haha. Keitel's acting (and just pure craziness, like yeah in the car scene) was enough to atleast make it amusing enough for me to "enjoy" that movie haha.

But Oh. my. god. The part where he's weeping (Keitels gotta really painful man-weep my god) and he turns around and JESUS is just like RIGHT THERE out of NO WHERE. I seriously nearly crapped myself. XD Scarred the be-jesus out of me.

And yeah, Keitel deserves mass kudos for the performance, very brave and very just over and beyond the call of duty. He literally has to play the worse kind of scumbag, appear naked on screen, and weep and all this shit, and the ending, while yeah he "does the right thing" it's just so non-triumphant and by the end you're just like "well... that happened" XD

Yeah I prefer Mr. White, That's how I like to see Keitel. (Though he does amazing what ever he does, he's like the now-a-days Claude Rains)

And yeah I've always seen the new Cape Fear as a comedy haha. I can never keep a straight face when people say they like the new one better than the old one, I'm like "Are you fucking serious? Have you SEEN the old one?" I mean even if you take the whole first part of the new one seriously, but the time the auditorium scene happens it's just like "Where was Scorsese going with this" Not to mention like how long it was for no reason, like it takes Juliette Lewis like 15 minutes just to walk to the auditorium, and for some reason Scorsese thought if we missed that 15 MINUTE walk down the halls of her school, we would miss something important. I just remember it being really drawn out, then with short bursts of odd silly things happening. It was almost as if the original Cape Fear was a Vinyl and then it was left out in the sun until it got all warped and wavy so when you played it back it would have really long slow parts and really fast crazy parts and the whole think was a wily-wonka version of the original haha. And I was disappointed to, cause it's Scorsese and DeNiro, But I take DeNiro in "Analize this" singing West Side Story more than DeNiro as Max Cady.

And cube is one of those movies you gotta watch when your in the mood. Gotta have a bunch of friends over to laugh at it with you.
